Keith Moore’s first attempts at painting on canvas and silk were much influenced by Otsukas work. He liked the Samurai models produced by Pegaso and Post Militaire but restricted his own figure painting to the Napoleonic period.

However, he was sufficiently impressed by some of the later figures released to want to recreate the sculptures on a much larger scale on canvas.
